Tafsir of As-Saffat 37:174

{فتول عنهم} Turn away from them, disregard their harm,

{حتى حين} until a short period.

It is the period of refraining from fighting. Al-Suddi said: Until the day of Badr. Others said: Until death. Others said: Until the Day of Resurrection.

{وأبصر} And watch what will be decreed for them regarding captivity, killing, and punishment in the Hereafter.

{فسوف يبصرون} And what will be decreed for you regarding victory, support, and reward in the end.

The command to "watch" regarding the awaited, promised state is intended to indicate that it is inevitable and certain to occur, and that its occurrence is so near it is as if it were right before your eyes. In this is consolation for him and relief for his spirit.

His saying {فسوف يبصرون} is for the purpose of threat, as previously mentioned, not for the purpose of postponement.

{أفبعذابنا يستعجلون * فإذا نزل بساحتهم فسآء صباح المنذرين * وتول عنهم حتى حين * وأبصر فسوف يبصرون}
