Tafsir of As-Saffat 37:180

"Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of..."

The [word] "Lord" (Rabb) is annexed to "Might" (al-‘Izzah) to denote His exclusive possession of it. It is as if it were said: "The Possessor of Might," just as you say "a companion of truth" (sahib sidq) to denote his exclusive possession of truth. It is also permissible that it means there is no might held by any king or other being except that He is its Lord and Owner, similar to His saying: "You give honor (tu‘izzu) to whom You will" (Al ‘Imran: 26).

The Surah encompasses the mention of what the polytheists said about Allah and what they attributed to Him—things from which He is exalted—as well as the hardships the messengers endured because of them, and the victory they were granted in the end. Thus, He concluded it with a summary of all that: by declaring His Essence exalted above what the polytheists described, by sending peace upon the messengers, and by saying "And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds" for the good outcomes He ordained for them. The purpose is to teach the believers to say this, not to neglect it, and not to be heedless of the contents of His Noble Book and the treasures of His Glorious Quran.

From Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): "Whoever wishes to receive the fullest measure of reward on the Day of Resurrection, let the last of his words when he rises from his gathering be: 'Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of Might, above what they describe. And peace upon the messengers. And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds.'"

From the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Whoever recites [Surah] Al-Saffat will be given ten rewards for every jinn and devil, the rebellious devils will be kept far from him, he will be absolved of polytheism, and his two guardian angels will testify for him on the Day of Resurrection that he was a believer in the messengers."
