Tafsir
Verse range: 38:16
"And they said, 'Our Lord, hasten for us our qitt...'"
The Qitt: It is a portion of a thing, because it is a piece cut from it, derived from the verb qattahu (he cut it). It is said of a document of reward: a qatt, because it is a piece of parchment.
Both meanings have been used to interpret the Almighty’s saying: "Hasten for us our qitt," meaning:
"Be patient over what they say and remember Our servant David, the possessor of strength; indeed, he was one who repeatedly turned back [to Allah]."
"Indeed, We subjected the mountains to exalt [Allah] with him in the evening and the sunrise."
"And the birds, assembled; all were to Him, repeatedly turning back."
"And We strengthened his kingdom and gave him wisdom and discernment in speech."
