Tafsir
Verse range: 38:65
{Say} O Muhammad, to the polytheists of Mecca: I am nothing but a messenger, {a warner}, warning you of the punishment of Allah for the polytheists.
I say to you: The true religion is to believe that there is no god but Allah, {the One} without peer or partner, {the Prevailing} over all things. Sovereignty and Lordship in the entire world belong to Him alone. He is {the Exalted in Might}, who cannot be overcome when He punishes the disobedient, and yet He is {the Perpetual Forgiver} of the sins of those who seek refuge in Him.
Alternatively, say to them: I am only a warner to you of what I know. I warn you of the punishment of One who possesses these attributes; for He is worthy of having His punishment feared, just as He is worthy of having His reward hoped for.
{Say: "It is a great message, from which you are turning away. I had no knowledge of the exalted assembly [the angels] when they were disputing. It has only been revealed to me that I am a clear warner."}
