And if it was not for the favor of Allah upon you, [O Muhammad], and His mercy, a group of them would have determined to mislead you. But they do not mislead except themselves, and they will not harm you at all. And Allah has revealed to you the Book and wisdom and has taught you that which you did not know. And ever has the favor of Allah upon you been great.

An-Nisa: 113

"And were it not for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy..." Meaning: His protection, His kindness, and what He revealed to you regarding the insight into their secret.

"...a party of them would have determined..." From the Banu Zafar.

"...to mislead you..." From judging with the truth and seeking the path of justice, despite their knowledge that the perpetrator was one of their own. It has been narrated that some of them knew the essence of the story.

"...but they do not mislead except themselves..." Because the consequence of it falls upon them.

"...and they will not harm you in anything..." Because you acted according to the outward appearance of the situation, and it did not cross your mind that the reality was otherwise.

"...and He has taught you that which you did not know..." Of the hidden matters and the secrets of hearts, or of the affairs of religion and the laws. It is permissible that the "party" refers to the Banu Zafar, and the pronoun in "of them" refers to the people. It is also said that the verse is regarding the hypocrites.
