Ghafir (40): "Whoever does an evil deed..."
{Then he will not be recompensed except with the like thereof}
Because increasing the amount of the recompense for an evil deed is ugly, for it is injustice. As for increasing the amount of the recompense for a good deed, it is beautiful, for it is grace.
It has been recited: yudkhalūna (they shall be entered) and yadkhulūna (they shall enter).
{Without account}
This stands in contrast to "except with the like thereof." It means: the recompense for an evil deed has a limit and a measure, so that it does not exceed what is deserved. As for the recompense for a righteous deed, it is without measure or account; rather, it is whatever you wish of increase beyond what is due, in abundance and vastness.
{And O my people, how is it that I invite you to salvation, while you invite me to the Fire? You invite me to disbelieve in Allah and associate with Him that of which I have no knowledge, while I invite you to the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver.}
