Tafsir
Verse range: 40:55
{So be patient; indeed, the promise of Allah is truth} It means that the victory of the messengers is under the guarantee of Allah, and the guarantee of Allah is never broken. He cites as evidence Moses and the means of guidance and victory He granted him over Pharaoh and his soldiers, and the preservation of the traces of his guidance among the Children of Israel.
Allah says: "He will grant you victory just as He granted them victory, and He will make you prevail over all religions, and the dominion of your nation will reach the east and west of the earth. So, be patient regarding the bitterness your people force you to swallow, for the outcome belongs to you, and My promise of your victory and the exaltation of your word is the truth."
{And ask forgiveness for your sin} Turn toward piety and rectify shortcomings through seeking forgiveness.
{And exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord in the evening and the morning} Continue in the worship of your Lord and praising Him. It is said: These are the Afternoon (‘Asr) and Dawn (Fajr) prayers.
{Indeed, those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without an authority having come to them—there is not within their breasts except pride, [the extent of] which they cannot reach. So seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Seeing.}
