Verse range: 40:57
If you ask: How does the phrase "For the creation of the heavens and the earth" connect to what precedes it?
I say: Their disputation regarding the signs of Allah included the denial of the Resurrection, which is the root and axis of their argument. They were refuted by the creation of the heavens and the earth because they already acknowledged that Allah is their Creator and that they are a creation of such magnitude that its measure cannot be grasped.
By comparison, the creation of mankind is a small and insignificant matter. Therefore, He who is capable of creating them, despite their vastness, is even more capable of creating man, despite his insignificance. This is more eloquent than citing the creation of one’s own kind as proof.
"But most of mankind do not know"—because they do not observe or reflect, due to the dominance of heedlessness over them and their following of their own desires.
