Fussilat: 29

{Those who led us astray} Meaning: The two devils who led us astray {from among the jinn and mankind}.

This is because devils are of two types: jinn and human. Allah the Exalted said: "And thus We have made for every prophet an enemy—devils from mankind and jinn" (Al-An'am: 112). And He said: "Who whispers into the breasts of mankind, from among the jinn and mankind" (An-Nas: 5-6).

It has also been said: They are Iblis and Qabil, because they were the first to establish disbelief and murder without right.

{Show us} It is recited as Ar-na (with a sukun on the ra') due to the heaviness of the kasra, just as they say fakhdh for fakhidh. It is said that its meaning is: "Give us [the punishment] of those who led us astray."

It is narrated from Al-Khalil: If you say Arini (with a kasra) your garment, the meaning is "let me see it." If you say it with a sukun (Arna), it is a request for giving, meaning: "Give me your garment." Its parallel is the common usage of ita' (giving) in the sense of i'ta' (bestowing). Its root is al-ihdar (bringing forth).

Fussilat: 30-32

{Indeed, those who have said, "Our Lord is Allah" and then remained on a right course - the angels will descend upon them, [saying], "Do not fear and do not grieve but receive good tidings of Paradise, which you were promised. We were your allies in the worldly life and [are so] in the Hereafter. And you will have therein whatever your souls desire, and you will have therein whatever you request [or wish], as accommodation from a [Lord who is] Forgiving and Merciful."}
