Tafsir
Verse range: 41:36
"And if an incitement (nazgh) from Satan..."
Nazgh and nasgh have the same meaning: it is like a prick (nakhs). Satan incites (yanzughu) a human as if he were pricking him, by inciting him toward what is improper.
The act of incitement (nazgh) is attributed to the inciter (nazigh), as one says: "His grandfather was serious" (jadda jadduhu). Or, it may mean: "And if an inciter (nazigh) incites you," using the verbal noun as a description for Satan. Or, it refers to his temptation (taswil).
The meaning is: If Satan diverts you from what you were commanded regarding repelling [evil] with that which is better, then "seek refuge in Allah" from his evil, proceed with your affair, and do not obey him.
"And of His signs are the night and the day and the sun and the moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or to the moon, but prostrate to Allah, who created them, if it is Him that you worship. But if they are arrogant—then those who are near your Lord exalt Him by night and by day, and they do not tire."
