So to that [religion of Allah] invite, [O Muhammad], and remain on a right course as you are commanded and do not follow their inclinations but say, "I have believed in what Allah has revealed of the Qur'an, and I have been commanded to do justice among you. Allah is our Lord and your Lord. For us are our deeds, and for you your deeds. There is no [need for] argument between us and you. Allah will bring us together, and to Him is the [final] destination."

Ash-Shura: (15) "So to that, invite, and remain on a right course..."

{So to that} Meaning: Because of the division, and because of the branching of disbelief into various sects that resulted from it, {invite} to unity and harmony upon the ancient Hanifite religion.

{And remain on a right course} Meaning: Remain steadfast upon it and upon calling others to it, just as Allah has commanded you.

{And do not follow their inclinations} Meaning: Their various desires.

{And say, "I have believed in what Allah has sent down of the Book"} Meaning: Any book that is authentically established that Allah has sent down. This refers to belief in all revealed scriptures, because those who were divided believed in some and disbelieved in others, as in His saying: "They say, 'We believe in some and disbelieve in some'" (An-Nisa: 150) up to His saying: "Those are the disbelievers, truly" (An-Nisa: 151).

{There is no argument between us and you} Meaning: There is no dispute, because the truth has become manifest and you have become veiled from it, so there is no need for argumentation. It means: No argument is to be presented between us, for those who argue present their proofs, one against the other.

{Allah will bring us together} Meaning: On the Day of Resurrection, He will judge between us and take vengeance for us against you. This is a declaration of separation and abandonment after the truth has appeared and the proof has been established and made binding.

If you ask: How were they separated when, after that, they were subjected to killing, the destruction of homes, the cutting down of palm trees, and expulsion? I say: The intent is their separation in the arenas of debate, not in the arenas of combat.

{And those who argue concerning Allah after He has been responded to - their argument is invalid with their Lord, and upon them is wrath, and for them is a severe punishment.}
