Az-Zukhruf: 24

"He said: 'Even if I brought you...'"

It is read as qul (say) and qāla (he said).

The readings ji'tukum (I brought you) and ji'nākum (we brought you) appear. The meaning is: "Will you follow your forefathers even if I brought you a religion more guided than the religion of your forefathers?"

They replied: "We are steadfast upon the religion of our forefathers; we will not depart from it, even if you bring us that which is more guided and more guided [than our own]."

Verses 26–28

"And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham said to his father and his people, 'Indeed, I am disassociated from that which you worship, except for He who created me, for indeed, He will guide me.' And he made it a lasting word among his descendants that they might return [to repentance]."
