Tafsir
Verse range: 43:79
{Or have they devised a matter...}
{Or} have the polytheists of Mecca devised {a matter} of their plotting and scheming against the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)? {Then We are devising} Our plot just as they have devised theirs; similar to His saying: {Or do they intend a plot? But those who disbelieve—they are the ones being plotted against} (At-Tur: 42). They used to call out to one another and whisper regarding the affair of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).
If you ask: What is meant by "the secret" and "the private conversation" (najwa)? I say: The secret is what a man speaks to himself or to another in a secluded place. The private conversation is what they speak among themselves.
{Nay}, We hear them both and are aware of them, {and Our messengers}—meaning the guardian angels—{are recording} that.
Yahya ibn Mu'adh ar-Razi said: "Whoever conceals his sins from people but reveals them to the One from whom nothing in the heavens is hidden, has made Him the most insignificant of observers toward him, and this is one of the signs of hypocrisy."
{Say, "If the Most Merciful had a son, then I would be the first of the worshippers." Exalted is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe.}
