How much they left behind of gardens and springs

Ad-Dukhan: 25

"How many gardens and springs they left behind."

"And honorable stations": This refers to the fine assemblies and dwellings they possessed. It is also said: [it refers to] pulpits.

  • An-ni‘mah (with a fatḥah on the nūn): Refers to luxury and ease of life (at-tana‘‘um).
  • An-ni‘mah (with a kasrah on the nūn): Refers to the bestowal of favors (al-in‘ām).

It has been recited as both fākihīn (joyful) and fakhīn (merry).


"Thus. And We bequeathed them to another people. Neither the heaven nor the earth wept for them, nor were they granted respite."
