Tafsir of Al-Jathiyah 45:12

{And that you may seek of His bounty} through trade, or by diving for pearls and coral, extracting fresh meat, and other benefits of the sea.

If you ask: What is the meaning of {from Him} in His saying: {all from Him}, and what is its grammatical position?

I say: It occupies the position of a hal (state/adverbial). The meaning is: He subjected these things while they are originating from Him and resulting from His presence. That is to say: He is their Creator and Originator by His power and wisdom, and then He subjected them for His creation.

It is also permissible that it is the predicate of an omitted subject, the estimation being: "They are all from Him."

It is also possible that {and He subjected for you} is an emphasis of His saying: {He subjected for you}, and then a new sentence begins: {what is in the heavens and what is in the earth, all from Him}.

It is also possible that {what is in the earth} is the subject, and {from Him} is its predicate.

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) recited it as (minnah) [a gift/favor].

Salama bin Muharib recited it as (minhu) [from Him], such that minhu is the agent of "subjected" based on metaphorical attribution, or that it is the predicate of an omitted subject—meaning: "That is from Him."

{Say to those who have believed, [that they] forgive those who do not expect the days of Allah so that He may recompense a people for what they used to earn. Whoever does righteousness - it is for his [own] soul; and whoever does evil - it is against it. Then to your Lord you will be returned.}
