ﱬ ﱭ ﱮ ﱯ ﱰ ﱱ ﱲ ﱳ ﱴ ﱵ ﱶ ﱷ ﱸ ﱹ ﱺ ﱻ ﱼ ﱽ ﱾ ﱿ ﲀ ﲁ ﲂ ﲃ ﲄ ﲅ
And We gave them clear proofs of the matter [of religion]. And they did not differ except after knowledge had come to them - out of jealous animosity between themselves. Indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ.
Tafsir
Verse range: 45:16-17
{And We certainly gave the Children of Israel the Scripture} The Torah.
{and the judgment} Wisdom and jurisprudence, or the ability to settle disputes among people, because kingship and prophethood were among them.
{and of the good things} From the provisions that Allah made lawful and wholesome for them.
{and We favored them over the worlds} In that We did not give others the like of what We gave them.
{clear proofs} Signs and miracles.
{of the matter} Of the matter of religion. Thus, the disagreement did not occur among them regarding the religion {except after knowledge had come to them}—that which necessitates the removal of disagreement. They only differed due to transgression that arose between them, or out of enmity and envy.
{Then We placed you on a clear path of the matter, so follow it and do not follow the inclinations of those who do not know. Indeed, they will not avail you at all against Allah. And indeed, the wrongdoers are allies of one another, but Allah is the protector of the righteous.}
