Surah Al-Ahqaf 46:27
ﲽ ﲾ ﲿ ﳀ ﳁ ﳂ ﳃ ﳄ ﳅ ﳆ
And We have already destroyed what surrounds you of [those] cities, and We have diversified the signs [or verses] that perhaps they might return [from disbelief].

{What is around you} O people of Mecca, {of the towns} such as the stone-dwellings of Thamud, the village of Sodom, and others. The intended meaning is: the people of those towns. That is why He said: {that they might return}.
{Why, then, did those whom they took as gods, besides Allah, as a means of approach, not help them? Nay, they have strayed from them; and that is their lie and what they were fabricating.}
