Tafsir
Verse range: 47:13
And it is read: Wa-ka'in (وكائن) with the measure of ka'in (كاعن).
He intended by "the city" its inhabitants. That is why He said: {We destroyed them}, as if He said: "And how many a people, who were stronger in power than your people who drove you out, have We destroyed."
The meaning of "drove you out": They were the cause of your departure.
If you ask: How can He say {and there was no helper for them}, when it is a matter that has already passed?
I say: Its flow is the flow of a narrated state (al-hal al-mahkiyya), as if He said: "We destroyed them, and they are [left] without helpers."
