Indeed, those who disbelieved and averted [people] from the path of Allah and opposed the Messenger after guidance had become clear to them - never will they harm Allah at all, and He will render worthless their deeds.

Muhammad: (32) "Indeed, those who disbelieved..."

{And He will render their deeds vain} Those [deeds] which they performed in their religion, hoping for reward thereby; for they are void due to their disbelief in the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). They are [the tribes of] Qurayza and al-Nadir.

Or: He will render their deeds vain—the [evil] schemes they set up in opposing the Messenger—meaning: He will nullify them so they do not attain their objectives through them. Rather, they seek victory through them, but they yield nothing for them except killing and expulsion from their homelands.

It is also said: They are the leaders of Quraysh and those who provided food on the day of Badr.

{O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and do not invalidate your deeds.}
