Tafsir of Al-Ma'idah 5:72

Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:72

ﱖ ﱗ ﱘ ﱙ ﱚ ﱛ ﱜ ﱝ ﱞ ﱟ ﱠ ﱡ ﱢ ﱣ ﱤ ﱥ ﱦ ﱧ ﱨ ﱩ ﱪ ﱫ ﱬ ﱭ ﱮ ﱯ ﱰ ﱱ ﱲ ﱳ ﱴ ﱵ ﱶ ﱷ ﱸ ﱹ

They have certainly disbelieved who say, "Allah is the Messiah, the son of Mary" while the Messiah has said, "O Children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Indeed, he who associates others with Allah - Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are not for the wrongdoers any helpers.

Al-Ma'idah: 72

"Jesus, peace and blessings be upon him, did not distinguish between himself and them, in that he is a servant, governed [by God], just like them."

This is an argument against the Christians.

"Indeed, he who associates others with Allah" In His worship, or in that which is exclusive to Him regarding His attributes or His actions.

"Allah has forbidden him Paradise" Which is the abode of the monotheists. That is, He has forbidden him from entering it and prevented him from it, just as one who is in a state of ihram is prevented from that which is forbidden to him.

"And for the wrongdoers there are no helpers" This is a statement from Allah [indicating] that they have committed wrong and deviated from the path of truth in what they say about Jesus, peace be upon him. Therefore, He did not assist them in it, nor did He support their claim; rather, He refuted and rejected it—even if they were aggrandizing him through that [claim] and elevating his status, or [if they were claiming it was] from the words of Jesus, peace be upon him. The meaning is: No one will help you in what you say, nor will anyone support you in it, due to its impossibility and its distance from reason.

Or: No helper will help you in the Hereafter against the punishment of Allah.
