Tafsir
Verse range: 51:20-21
They point to the Maker, His power, His wisdom, and His governance. It is spread out like a carpet for what is upon it, as He said: "He who made the earth for you a cradle" (Ta-Ha: 53).
In it are paths and passages for those who travel and walk upon its slopes. It is partitioned: plains, mountains, land, and sea; adjacent tracts: hard and soft, fertile and saline. It is like a mount that is impregnated, bringing forth various plants and types of trees with fruits of different colors, tastes, and scents, all watered by one water, “and We make some of them excel others in food” (Ar-Ra'd: 4).
All of it is suited to the needs, benefits, and interests of its inhabitants, both in their health and their ailments. Consider the gushing springs, the diverse minerals, and the creatures scattered across its land and sea—varying in form, shape, and behavior, from wild to domestic, to vermin, and beyond.
{For those who are certain} The monotheists who have followed the straight, demonstrative path that leads to knowledge. They are observers with insightful eyes and penetrating intellects; whenever they see a sign, they recognize the aspect of its contemplation, thus increasing in faith upon their faith, and in certainty upon their certainty.
It is enough to consider the hearts and the intellects implanted within them, and the various meanings they are endowed with; the tongues, speech, and the points of articulation for letters; and the subtleties in their composition and arrangement—all are radiant signs and decisive proofs of the Wisdom of the Governor.
Leave aside the hearing, the sight, the limbs, and all other organs, and how they perform what they were created for. Consider the joints placed in the limbs for bending and folding; for if one of them were to stiffen, incapacity would follow, and if it were to become too loose, humiliation would settle in.
“So blessed is Allah, the best of creators.”
{And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised. Then by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, indeed, it is the truth, just as [it is true that] you are speaking.}
