Verse range: 51:38-39
{And in Moses...} This is a conjunction linked to {And in the earth are signs}, or to His saying: {And We left therein a sign}, meaning: We placed a sign in the story of Moses, similar to the poetic verse: "I fed it straw and cold water."
{But he turned away with his pillar} Meaning: He turned aside and averted, similar to the Almighty’s saying: {And he turned away with his side} (Fussilat: 51). It is also said: He turned away with that which he relied upon for strength, namely his soldiers and his kingdom. It is also recited as bi-ruknihi (with the damma on the kaf).
{And said: "A sorcerer"} Meaning: He is a sorcerer.
