Tafsir
Verse range: 51:54
{فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ} Turn away from those to whom you have repeatedly extended the call, yet they did not respond, and in whom you have recognized obstinacy and contention. There is no blame upon you for turning away after you have delivered the message and exerted your utmost effort in conveying the call.
{فَمَا أَنْتَ بِمَلُومٍ} (Implicitly understood: You are not to be blamed).
{وَذَكِّرْ فَإِنَّ الذِّكْرَىٰ تَنْفَعُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ} Do not cease to provide reminders and exhortations regarding the Days of Allah, for "the reminder benefits the believers"—meaning it leaves an impact on those whom Allah knows will enter into faith, or it increases those already within it in faith.
It is narrated that when {فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ} was revealed, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) became sorrowful, and this weighed heavily upon his companions. They perceived that the revelation had ceased and that the punishment had arrived, so Allah revealed:
{وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ}
