Al-Hashr: 23–24

{The Unseen}: That which is non-existent, {and the Witnessed}: That which is existent and perceived, as if one is witnessing it. It is also said: That which is hidden from the servants and that which they witness. It is also said: The secret and the public. It is also said: The worldly life and the Hereafter.

{The Holy (al-Quddūs)}: With the damma (u) and the fatha (a) on the qaf—both readings exist. It means the One who is extremely pure from anything deemed ugly. Its equivalent is al-Subbūh. In the glorification of the angels: "Subbūh, Quddūs, Lord of the angels and the Spirit."

{The Peace (al-Salām)}: Meaning "the Source of Safety." From this is {the Home of Peace} (Yūnus: 25) and {Peace be upon you} (al-An‘ām: 54). He is described by this as an exaggeration in describing Him as being free from deficiencies, or as the One who grants safety.

{The Granter of Security (al-Mu’min)}: The bestower of security. It is also read with a fatha on the mim (al-Mu’man), meaning "the One who is believed in," with the omission of the preposition, just as you say regarding the people of Moses in His saying: {And Moses chose his people} (al-A‘rāf: 155)—meaning the chosen ones, similar to the phrasing of "the seventy."

{The Guardian (al-Muhaymin)}: The Watcher over everything, the Preserver of it. It is mufay‘il from amn (security), except that its hamza was changed into a ha.

{The Compeller (al-Jabbār)}: The Subduer who compels His creation to what He wills—that is, He forces them.

{The Majestic (al-Mutakabbir)}: The One of extreme pride and greatness. It is also said: The One who is too majestic to oppress His servants.

{The Creator (al-Khāliq)}: The One who determines what He brings into existence.

{The Producer (al-Bāri’)}: The One who distinguishes one thing from another through different forms.

{The Fashioner (al-Muṣawwir)}: The One who gives shape. It is narrated from Ḥāṭib ibn Abī Balta‘ah that he read: (al-Bāri’u al-Muṣawwira) with a fatha on the waw and a nasb (accusative) on the ra’, meaning: "The One who produces the fashioner," i.e., He distinguishes what He fashions by varying the forms. Ibn Mas‘ūd read: {And whatever is in the earth}.

From Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): "I asked my beloved (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about the Greatest Name of Allah, and he said: 'Adhere to the end of [Sūrat] al-Hashr and recite it frequently.' I repeated the question to him, and he repeated the answer to me; I repeated it again, and he repeated it again."

From the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Whoever recites Sūrat al-Hashr, Allah will forgive him his past and future sins."
