Al-An'am: 111
{And even if We had sent down the angels unto them} just as they said: {Why have angels not been sent down to us?} (Al-Furqan: 21),
{And the dead had spoken to them} just as they said: {Then bring back our forefathers} (Ad-Dukhan: 36),
{And We had gathered together everything before them} just as they said: {Or you bring Allah and the angels before us} (Al-Isra: 92).
- "Before them" (Qubulan): Meaning guarantors (kufala') for the truth of what we brought glad tidings and warnings of, or groups (jama'at).
- It is also said: "Before them" (Qubulan) means face-to-face (muqabala).
- It is also recited as (Qubulan), meaning openly/visibly (iyanan).
{They would not have believed unless Allah should will} a will of compulsion and necessity.
{But most of them are ignorant} so they swear by Allah their strongest oaths regarding things they do not perceive concerning the state of their hearts when the signs descend. Or, it means: most Muslims are ignorant that these people will not believe unless they are compelled, so they hope for their belief when the requested sign arrives.
Al-An'am: 112
{And thus We have made for every prophet an enemy—devils from mankind and jinn, inspiring one another with decorative speech in deception. But if your Lord had willed, they would not have done it, so leave them and what they fabricate.}
