Tafsir
Verse range: 6:162
{Say: "Indeed, my prayer and my rites..."} My worship and my entire devotion. It is also said: "my sacrifice." He combined prayer and sacrifice, as in His saying: "So pray to your Lord and sacrifice" (Al-Kawthar: 2). It is also said: "my prayer and my pilgrimage," from the rites of Hajj.
{...and my living and my dying...} Everything I perform during my life, and that upon which I die—namely faith and righteous deeds.
{...are for Allah, Lord of the worlds} Purely for His sake.
{And with that...} With this sincerity.
{...I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims} Because the submission (Islam) of every prophet precedes the submission of his nation.
{Say: "Is it other than Allah I should seek as a lord while He is the Lord of all things? And every soul earns not [blame] except against itself, and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you concerning that over which you used to differ."}
