Say, "Have you considered: if the punishment of Allah should come to you unexpectedly or manifestly, will any be destroyed but the wrongdoing people?"

Say, "Have you considered: if the punishment of Allah should come to you unexpectedly or manifestly, will any be destroyed but the wrongdoing people?"
Tafsir
Verse range: 6:47
"Say, 'Have you considered: if...'"
Since baghtatan (suddenly) means for a matter to occur without one perceiving it or its signs appearing, it is said: "suddenly or openly."
Al-Hasan said: "By night or by day." It is also recited: (baghtatan aw jahratan).
"Will any be destroyed..." Meaning: None shall be destroyed with the destruction of punishment and wrath except the wrongdoers. It is also recited: (hal yuhliku) with a fatha on the ya.
"And We send not the messengers except as bringers of good tidings and warners. So whoever believes and reforms – there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve."
