Surah Al-An'am 6:94

[It will be said to them], "And you have certainly come to Us alone as We created you the first time, and you have left whatever We bestowed upon you behind you. And We do not see with you your 'intercessors' which you claimed that they were among you associates [of Allah]. It has [all] been severed between you, and lost from you is what you used to claim."

Al-An'am: 94

{And you have come to Us alone...}

{Alone}: Separated from your wealth, your children, and all that you coveted and preferred of your worldly life; and separated from your idols, which you claimed were your intercessors and partners with Allah.

{Just as We created you the first time}: In the same state of solitude in which you were born.

{And you have left behind your backs what We bestowed upon you}: That which We favored you with in this world, and with which you occupied yourselves, neglecting the Hereafter. It did not benefit you, you could not carry even a speck of it, and you did not send it ahead for your own souls.

{Among you [your] partners}: In your enslavement; for when they called them gods and worshipped them, they made them partners with Allah in themselves and in their servitude.

Note on readings: It is read as furādā (with tanwīn), furād (like thulāth), and furdā (like sukrā).

Grammatical inquiry: If you ask, "What is the grammatical position of 'as We created you'?" I say: It is in the position of an accusative, acting as a descriptor for the verbal noun (maṣdar) of 'you have come to Us'. That is: "Your coming to Us is like Our creating of you."

{The ties between you have been severed}: The severance has occurred between you. It is like saying, "The gathering between the two things has taken place," meaning: "He caused the gathering between them," by attributing the action to its verbal noun through this interpretation. As for the one who reads it in the nominative case (taqaṭṭaʿa baynukum), he has attributed the action to the adverbial phrase (ẓarf), just as you would say, "Fighting occurred behind you and in front of you." In the reading of ʿAbd Allāh, it is: Laqad taqaṭṭaʿa mā baynakum (The ties between you have indeed been severed).

{Indeed, Allah is the cleaver of grain and date seeds. He brings the living out of the dead and brings the dead out of the living. That is Allah, so how are you deluded?}
