Those who disbelieve have claimed that they will never be resurrected. Say, "Yes, by my Lord, you will surely be resurrected; then you will surely be informed of what you did. And that, for Allah, is easy."

At-Taghābun: (7) "Those who disbelieved claimed..."

"Claimed" (zaʿama): To assert knowledge [without proof]. From this is the saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him): "‘They claimed’ (zaʿamū) is the mount of lies." And from Shurayḥ: "Everything has a nickname, and the nickname for a lie is ‘they claimed’ (zaʿamū)."

It takes two objects, just as the verb "to know" (ʿalama) does. A poet said: And I did not claim you to be dismissed from that.

The particle anna along with its predicate stands in the place of these two objects.

"Those who disbelieved": The people of Mecca.

"Nay" (balā): An affirmation of what follows the negation (lan), which is the Resurrection.

"And that is easy for Allah": Meaning, nothing can divert Him from it.

"His Messenger and the Light": He meant by them Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the Qur’an.

(9) "The Day He gathers you for the Day of Gathering, that is the Day of Mutual Disillusion. And whoever believes in Allah and does righteousness, He will remove from him his misdeeds and admit him to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the great attainment. But those who disbelieved and denied Our verses, those are the companions of the Fire, abiding therein eternally; and wretched is the destination."
