Tafsir of Al-Qalam 68:40-41

{ أيهم بذلك زعيم } The judgment.

{ زعيم } Meaning: One who stands by it and argues for its validity, just as a za‘īm (guarantor/spokesperson) stands for a people, taking responsibility for their affairs.

{ أم لهم شركاء } Meaning: People who share this claim with them, agree with them upon it, and follow their path regarding it.

{ فليأتوا } Bring them forth.

{ إن كانوا صادقين } In their claim.

This means: No one concedes this to them, nor assists them in it, just as they possess no scripture that speaks of it, no covenant with God regarding it, and no za‘īm (guarantor) to uphold it.

{ يوم يكشف عن ساق ويدعون إلى السجود فلا يستطيعون * خاشعة أبصارهم ترهقهم ذلة وقد كانوا يدعون إلى السجود وهم سالمون }
