Al-Qalam: (46) "Or do you ask them for a payment..."

"Or do you ask them for a payment" Al-Maghram (the payment/debt) refers to a fine. It means: You do not ask them for any reward in exchange for guidance and instruction, which would make the burden of fines on their wealth heavy for them, thereby discouraging them from faith.

"Or do they have [knowledge of] the unseen" Meaning: The Preserved Tablet.

"So they write [it] down" From it, that which they judge by.

(48) "So be patient for the decision of your Lord, and be not like the companion of the fish when he called out while he was distressed."

(49) "If not that a favor from his Lord had overtaken him, he would have been thrown onto the bare earth while he was blameworthy."

(50) "But his Lord chose him and made him among the righteous."
