Tafsir
Verse range: 7:10
{We have established you upon the earth} We have assigned for you a place and a settlement therein. Or, We have granted you dominion over it and empowered you to manage its affairs.
{And We have made for you therein means of livelihood} The plural of maʿīshah (livelihood), which refers to that by which one lives, such as food, drink, and other necessities, as well as the means by which these are attained. The standard linguistic form requires the yāʾ to be explicit. It is reported from Ibn ʿĀmir that he pronounced it with a hamzah (i.e., maʿāʾish), by analogy to the form ṣaḥāʾif.
{And We have certainly created you, then given you [human] form, then We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam"; so they prostrated, except for Iblīs. He was not of those who prostrated.}
