Tafsir of Al-A'raf 7:181

"And among those We created is a community that guides by the truth..."

When He said: "And We have certainly created for Hell many of the jinn and mankind" (Al-Aʿrāf: 179), informing us that many of the two species act with the deeds of the people of the Fire, He followed it with His saying: "And among those We created is a community that guides by the truth."

It is narrated from the Prophet (ﷺ) that when he recited this verse, he would say: "This is for you," just as He gave the people before you the like of it: "And among the people of Moses is a community that guides by the truth" (Al-Aʿrāf: 159).

It is also narrated from him (ﷺ): "There will always be a group from my nation upon the truth until Jesus, peace be upon him, descends."

Al-Kalbi said: They are those who believed from the People of the Scripture. It is also said: They are the scholars and those who call to the religion.

"But those who deny Our verses—We will progressively lead them [to destruction] from where they do not know. And I will give them time. Indeed, My plan is firm. Do they not reflect? There is no madness in their companion; he is only a clear warner. Do they not look into the realm of the heavens and the earth and everything that Allah has created and [think] that perhaps their appointed time has drawn near? In what message after this will they believe?"
