Open in Qurani

Al-Aʿrāf: 186

"Whomever Allah leaves to stray..."

Variant Readings:

  • (Wa-yadharuhum) with a yāʾ and a nūn (i.e., wa-nadharuhum), in the nominative case (rafʿ) as a new sentence (istiʾnāf).
  • (Wa-yadharuhum) with a yāʾ and in the jussive mood (jazm), as a conjunction linked to the position of the phrase "there is no guide for him" (fa-lā hādī lahu). It is as if it were said: "Whomever Allah leaves to stray, no one shall guide him, and He shall leave them [in their transgression]."

Al-Aʿrāf: 187

"They ask you about the Hour, when will be its appointed time? Say, 'Its knowledge is only with my Lord. None shall reveal its time except Him. It weighs heavily upon the heavens and the earth. It will not come upon you except suddenly.' They ask you as if you were well-informed about it. Say, 'Its knowledge is only with Allah, but most people do not know.'"
