Tafsir of Al-A'raf 7:188

{Say: I possess no power for myself} This is a manifestation of servitude and a negation of what is exclusive to Lordship, namely the knowledge of the Unseen. It means: I am a weak servant; I do not possess the power to bring benefit to myself nor to repel harm from myself, just as slaves and servants do not.

{Except what Allah wills} My Lord and Master, regarding the benefit for me and the repulsion of harm from me.

{And if I knew the Unseen} My state would be contrary to what it is. I would have accumulated much good, sought an abundance of benefits, and avoided evil and harm so that none of it would ever touch me. I would not have been victorious one time and defeated another in wars, nor profitable and then losing in trade, nor correct and then mistaken in my affairs.

{I am not but} A servant sent as a warner and a bringer of glad tidings; it is not my nature to know the Unseen.

{For a people who believe} It is possible that this relates to both "warner" and "bringer of glad tidings," because warning and glad tidings only benefit them. Or, it may relate to "bringer of glad tidings" alone, with the object of the "warner" being omitted—meaning: a warner to the disbelievers and a bringer of glad tidings to a people who believe.

{It is He who created you from one soul and created from it its mate that he might dwell in security with her. And when he covered her, she carried a light burden and continued therein. And when it became heavy, they both called upon Allah, their Lord, "If You should give us a good [child], we will surely be among the grateful." But when He gave them a good [child], they ascribed partners to Him regarding what He had given them. Exalted is Allah above what they associate with Him.}
