Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge.

Tafsir
Verse range: 79:40-41
{And restrained the soul}—the one that commands evil—{from [the] desire}—the ruinous one, which is the following of base appetites, restraining it from them, controlling it through patience, and habituating it to preferring what is good.
It is said: The two verses were revealed regarding Abu ‘Aziz ibn ‘Umayr and Mus‘ab ibn ‘Umayr. Mus‘ab killed his brother, Abu ‘Aziz, on the day of Uhud, and he shielded the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) with his own body until the arrowheads pierced his insides.
{They ask you about the Hour: when is its arrival? * In what [position] are you to mention it? * To your Lord is its finality. * You are only a warner for whoever fears it. * As if they, on the day they see it, had not remained [in the world] except for an evening or its morning.}
