Al-Anfal: 39–40

{And fight them until there is no fitnah} Until there is no trace of polytheism among them, {and the religion is entirely for Allah} And every false religion vanishes from them, and only the religion of Islam remains among them.

{But if they cease} From disbelief and embrace Islam, {then indeed, Allah is Seeing of what they do} He will reward them for their repentance and their Islam.

It is also recited as ta‘malūn (you do) with a tā’. In this case, the meaning is: Indeed, Allah is Seeing of what you do—of striving in His path, calling to His religion, and bringing [people] out from the darkness of disbelief into the light of Islam—and He will reward you for it with the best of rewards.

{But if they turn away} And do not cease, {then know that Allah is your Mawlā} Meaning: Your Supporter and Helper. So, trust in His guardianship and His victory.

{And know that anything you obtain of war booty - then indeed, for Allah is one fifth of it and for the Messenger and for [his] near relatives and the orphans and the needy and the traveler, if you have believed in Allah and in that which We sent down upon Our Servant on the day of criterion - the day when the two armies met. And Allah, over all things, is competent.}
