O Prophet, sufficient for you is Allah and for whoever follows you of the believers.

Tafsir
Verse range: 8:64
{And those who follow you} The waw (and) is in the sense of ma‘a (with), and what follows it is in the accusative case (mansub). You say: Hasbuka wa-Zaydan dirham (You and Zayd are sufficient with a dirham). Do not put it in the genitive case (majrur), because conjoining an explicit noun in the genitive to a pronominal suffix is impermissible. The poet said: “Your sufficiency and al-Dahhak’s are like a sharp Indian blade.”
The meaning is: Allah is sufficient for you and for those who follow you among the believers as a helper. Alternatively, it may be in the nominative case (marfu‘), meaning: Allah is sufficient for you, and the believers are sufficient for you.
This verse was revealed at al-Bayda during the Battle of Badr before the fighting. According to Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), it was revealed regarding the conversion of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). According to Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, thirty-three men and six women had converted with the Prophet (peace be upon him), then Umar converted, and this was revealed.
{O Prophet, urge the believers to battle. If there are among you twenty [who are] steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you one hundred, they will overcome a thousand of those who have disbelieved because they are a people who do not understand. Now, Allah has lightened [the burden] for you, and He knows that among you is weakness. So if there are from you one hundred [who are] steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you a thousand, they will overcome two thousand by permission of Allah. And Allah is with the steadfast.}
