So let man observe from what he was created.
Tafsir
Verse range: 86:5
If you ask: What is the connection between the statement "So let man consider" and what precedes it?
I say: The connection is that after mentioning that every soul has a guardian over it, He follows it by instructing man to reflect upon his origin and his initial creation. By doing so, he will know that the One who created him is capable of resurrecting him and recompensing him. Consequently, he will work for the Day of Resurrection and recompense, and he will not dictate to his guardian anything except what will please him in his final outcome.
"From what he was created" is an interrogative, the answer to which is: "He was created from a gushing fluid."
"From between the backbone and the ribs" refers to the backbone of the man and the ribs of the woman—which are the bones of the chest where a necklace rests.
"Indeed, He, for his return, is capable. The Day when secrets will be put on trial. Then he will have no power and no helper."
