Tafsir of At-Tawbah 9:9-10

Surah At-Tawbah 9:9

ﱭ ﱮ ﱯ ﱰ ﱱ ﱲ ﱳ ﱴ ﱵ ﱶ ﱷ ﱸ ﱹ ﱺ

They have exchanged the signs of Allah for a small price and averted [people] from His way. Indeed, it was evil that they were doing.

At-Tawbah: 9–10

{They have bartered} They have exchanged {the signs of Allah}—the Qur’an and Islam—{for a small price}; that is, the pursuit of whims and desires.

{And they obstructed His path} They turned away from it, or they diverted others from it. It is also said: They are the Bedouins whom Abu Sufyan gathered and fed.

{They are the transgressors} Those who exceed the limits in injustice and wickedness.


{But if they repent, establish prayer, and pay the zakat, then they are your brothers in religion; and We detail the verses for a people who know.}
