As for he who gives and fears Allah
Tafsir
Verse range: 92:5
{فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَى} He gave, meaning the dues of his wealth.
{وَاتَّقَى} And he feared Allah, so he did not disobey Him.
{وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَى} And he affirmed the Husna (the best):
{فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَى} We will facilitate him toward ease. This is derived from "facilitating a horse for riding" when one saddles and bridles it. From this is the saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him): "Everyone is facilitated for that which he was created for."
The meaning is: We will be gentle with him and grant him success until obedience becomes the easiest and lightest of matters for him, as in the verse: "So whoever Allah wants to guide, He expands his breast to [contain] Islam."
{وَأَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَى * وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَى * فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَى * وَمَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ مَالُهُ إِذَا تَرَدَّى}
{وَأَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ} As for he who withheld.
{وَاسْتَغْنَى} And considered himself free of need (of Allah).
{وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَى} And denied the Husna (the best reward).
{فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَى} We will facilitate him toward hardship (the path to the Fire).
{وَمَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ مَالُهُ إِذَا تَرَدَّى} And his wealth will not avail him when he falls (into the Fire or into destruction).
