The donor retains the option to finalize the gift by allowing possession or to revoke the gift and prevent possession before the recipient takes possession. Possession of the gifted item is invalid unless authorized by the donor. If the recipient takes possession without authorization, the gift is incomplete, and the possession is invalid.
