Hadith 5:1

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Muslim, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Hilal al-'Absi, from Jarir, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) delivered a sermon to us and encouraged us to give charity, but they were slow [to respond], until anger was seen in his face. Then, a man from the Ansar came with a pouch and gave it to him. Then the people followed one another [in giving], until joy was seen in his face. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Whoever initiates a good practice, he shall have its reward and the like of the reward of whoever acts upon it, without their rewards being diminished in the slightest. And whoever initiates a bad practice, he shall bear its burden and the burden of whoever acts upon it, without their burdens being diminished in the slightest."
