Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 149:1

Abu Ya'la Ahmad ibn Ali ibn al-Muthanna al-Mawsili informed us, saying: Shayban ibn Farrukh narrated to us, saying: Jarir ibn Hazim narrated to us, saying: Nafi' narrated from a freedwoman of Fakih ibn al-Mughira that she entered upon Aisha and saw a spear placed in her house. She said: "O Mother of the Believers, what do you do with this spear?" She replied: "We kill these geckos with it, for the Prophet of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) informed us that when Ibrahim was thrown into the fire, there was no creature on earth that did not extinguish it, except for the gecko, which used to blow upon it. So the Prophet of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) commanded us to kill it." He said: And Abd al-Rahman al-Sarraj informed me that her name was Sa'ibah. Shayban said: Meaning the name of the freedwoman of Fakih.
