Hadith 912:2
Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Sufyan, Habib—meaning Ibn Abi Thabit—narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, who said: Umar said: "Ali is the best of us in judgment, and Ubayy is the best of us in recitation, yet we leave some of what Ubayy says." And Ubayy says: "I took it from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, so I will not leave it, while Allah says: 'Whatever verse We abrogate or cause to be forgotten' [Al-Baqarah: 106]."
حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد، عن سفيان، حدثني حبيب يعني ابن أبي ثابت، عن سعيد بن جبير، عن ابن عباس قال: قال عمر: "علي أقضانا، وأبي أقرؤنا، وإنا لندع من قول أبي ". وأبي يقول: "أخذت من فم رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فلا أدعه، والله يقول: {ما ننسخ من آية أو ننسها} [البقرة: 106] "
