Hadith 591:0
It was narrated from Usayd ibn Hudayr that he was reciting Surah al-Baqarah at night, and his horse was tied beside him. Suddenly, the horse began to jump and move about. He stopped reciting, and the horse calmed down. He resumed reciting, and the horse began to jump and move about again. He stopped reciting, and the horse calmed down. He resumed reciting, and the horse began to jump and move about again. He stopped reciting, and his son, Yahya, was near the horse. Fearing that the horse might trample him, he moved the boy away. Then he looked up toward the sky, and he could not see it. When morning came, he told the Prophet (ﷺ) about it. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Recite, O Ibn Hudayr! Recite, O Ibn Hudayr!" He replied: "O Messenger of Allah, I feared for Yahya, as he was near the horse, so I went to him and looked up toward the sky, and I saw something like a canopy filled with lamps, so I went out so that I would not see it." The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Do you know what that was?" He said: "No." The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Those were the angels who drew near to hear your voice. If you had continued, the people would have seen them in the morning, and they would not have been hidden from them."
