Musnad Ahmad 530:1

Al-Hasan ibn Siwar narrated to us, Layth—meaning Ibn Sa’d—narrated to us, from Mu’awiyah, from Rashid ibn Sa’d, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Qatadah al-Sulami, that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying: "Indeed, Allah created Adam, then He took the creation from his back and said: 'These are in Paradise, and I do not care, and these are in the Fire, and I do not care.'" He said: A speaker said: "O Messenger of Allah, then upon what do we act?" He said: "Upon the positions of the decree."
