Musnad Ahmad 1015:2

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar informed us, from Ibn Abi Husayn, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, from Abu Malik al-Ash'ari, who said: I was with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, when there was revealed to him: "O you who have believed, do not ask about things which, if they are shown to you, will distress you" [Al-Ma'idah: 101]. He said: We were asking him when he said: "Indeed, Allah has servants who are neither prophets nor martyrs, whom the prophets and the martyrs will envy because of their seat and their nearness to Allah on the Day of Resurrection." He then mentioned the rest of the hadith in full.
