Hadith 457:1
'Affan narrated to us, he said: Shu'bah narrated to us, he said: Isma'il ibn Raja' informed me, he said: I heard Aws ibn Dam'aj, he said: I heard Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari al-Badri, from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, who said: "The one who leads the people in prayer is the one among them most versed in the Book of Allah and the earliest of them in recitation. If their recitation is equal, then the earliest of them in migration should lead them. If their migration is equal, then the oldest of them in age should lead them. And a man should not lead another in his household, nor in his place of authority, and he should not sit on his seat of honor in his house, unless he gives you permission, or except with his permission."
