Hadith 901:2
Yazid narrated to us, Muslim ibn Ubayd Abu Nasirah narrated to us, he said: I heard Abu Usayb, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saying: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Gabriel came to me with the fever and the plague. So I kept the fever in Medina, and I sent the plague to Ash-Sham. The plague is martyrdom for my nation, and a mercy, and an abomination upon the disbeliever."
حدثنا يزيد، حدثنا مسلم بن عبيد أبو نصيرة، قال: سمعت أبا عسيب، مولى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، يقول: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " أتاني جبريل بالحمى، والطاعون، فأمسكت الحمى بالمدينة، وأرسلت الطاعون إلى الشام، فالطاعون شهادة لأمتي، ورحمة، ورجس على الكافر "
